Covid-19: Sarawakian is Malaysia’s first casualty

KUALA LUMPUR: A 60-year-old man is the first person to die of Covid-19 in Malaysia, Sarawak’s State Disaster Management Committee announced via a press statement.

It is said the man, a pastor from the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kuching, passed away at 11am at the Sarawak General Hospital.

“The state health department is still in the process of identifying the source of his infection”.

It added that Sarawak also recorded 11 new positive cases — six from Kuching, three from Limbang and one each from Betong and Lawas.

“They are now being treated at the three designated hospitals, namely Sarawak General Hospital, Sibu Hospital and Miri Hospital.

“Currently, the 45 cases of Covid-19 in Sarawak have been traced to four clusters.”

“Sarawak today recorded another 35 persons under investigation (PUI) cases, while 204 patients are still awaiting results,” the state department said.
